HILLSBOROUGH: Police report thefts from construction sites

   Two thefts from commercial sites were reported on Feb. 1.
   A GMC truck and a work trailer were reported stolen from a Route 206 parking lot. The value of the truck and trailer were reported to be $51,000.
   A Caterpillar backhoe, valued at $45,000, was reported stolen from a bank construction site 1 on the former Charlie Brown’s restaurant site on Route 206.
   Police are investigating exactly when and how the thefts occurred, and couldn’t say if the two incidents were linked.
   Police also reported that:
   A Zion Road resident reported that $300 worth of jewelry was stolen from his maroon Nissan while it was parked at a Route 206 business.
   Gary Gerstl, 48, of Hillsborough was charged with shoplifting $10.69 worth of cosmetics and groceries from the Route 206 Shop-Rite. He was released after processing.
