CHAPTER B
Chapter B members meet on the second Thursday of the month in the Municipal Building’s all-purpose room, unless otherwise specified. Doors open to members at 11:30 a.m. and our meeting officially starts at 12:30 p.m. This gives everyone time to check our trip and event tables and purchase tickets. Coffee and donuts were served after our formal portion of the meeting.
Remember to only use doors by back parking lot. Please sign in as you enter.
We welcomed 31 new members at the Feb. 9 meeting. Each new member was introduced and welcomed by the membership. We take in new members every February and names are taken from a waiting list. If you are interested in joining Chapter B, please contact Merle Matthews at 908 904-1902 and ask to be placed on our waiting list.
At our Feb. 9 meeting, we were privileged to have the entire cast of Hillsborough High School’s performance of the musical “Titanic.” This group, under the direction of BJ Solomon, performed several numbers, including some solos. The entire group of Chapter B seniors were on their feet with a standing ovation.
There are 35 students in the cast, which is the largest number ever in any of their musicals. Titanic will be performed at the high school on Raider Boulevard in mid March. Check your local newspaper for more information or call the school direct. You will not be disappointed.”
We had two of our members celebrate significant birthdays this month: Our former president, Virginia Huston, celebrated her 85th birthday and longtime member Leona Elbaum celebrated her 80th. We wish both these ladies our best wishes for good health and happiness and many more years of sharing events with Chapter B.
Ralph Fariello, chairperson of our by-laws committee, presented some changes, which when voted and accepted by the membership, will become part of our by-laws.
This committee has been working very hard over the past year to update and tighten up the by-laws. We commend them for their efforts on our behalf. If you do not have a copy of our by-laws and wish to obtain one, please see Ralph or one of his committee and they will be happy to turn over a copy to you.
Reminder: Everyone should have filled out and returned to the Social Services Department your emergency contact form. If you have not done so, please do this immediately. We recently had an incident in our Senior Activity Room which required the need for this type of form.
Reminder: You are asked to wear your badges at all meetings and events.
