A North 3rd Avenue woman came to headquarters at 10:42 am Feb. 6 and said her husband had used her Social Security number to apply for two car loans totaling $22,203. She was advised on procedures to follow.
Manville High School Vice Principal Stephen Venuto signed two truancy complaints against parents at about 1:45 p.m. Feb. 6.
The owner of the Millstone Grill reported a fire in the rear bathroom at 10:39 p.m. Feb. 8. Patrols, fire and squad responded. The scene was turned over to Detective Sgt. Ron Gazaway for investigation.
A North Weiss Street caller at 1:13 p.m. Feb. 9 said a 16GB purple Apple iPod, valued at $1,500, had been taken from her residence in the last 24 hours.
A catering truck lost its load, dumping a large amount of debris on Wilhousky Street. Police got many calls shortly after 9 a.m. Feb. 17. The road department sent out a sweeper.
After a motor vehicle stop at 2 p.m. Feb. 10 on South Main Street, Patrolman Nickolas Franzoso arrested Nicholas Janner, 19, for possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was released with a summons.
A caller at 4:42 p.m. Feb 10 said his neighbor urinated in the street on North 13th Avenue. A borough summons was issued to a South 13th Avenue man.
A hit-and-run driver knocked down the stop and one-way signs at South 3rd Street and Washington Avenue at about 4:43 p.m. Feb. 10. The signs were replaced by the road department.
County communications reported that a 19-year-old man attempted suicide at just before 6 a.m. Feb. 11. Patrols responded and said a man shot himself with a BB gun but was responsive. He was taken to Somerset Medical Center.
At 8 a.m. Feb. 11 Amanda Tomaszfski reported a theft of $60 from the residence on South 19th Avenue. She said she believed someone took ’a family 1993 Dodge Spirit, valued at $500, between 1 and 5:30 a.m. The vehicle was entered in the national crime computer and a county alarm was issued. The car was reported back at the home at 8:42 a.m. Feb. 12 and it was cleared from crime rolls.
At 10:48 a.m. Feb. 11 a North Street woman reported finding a bicycle left in front of her home. Police said it was a black and orange Pacific Explorer that had not been reported stolen.
Mary Lou Mihalko, manager of CVS on South Main Street, called police about a possible shoplifter at 1:45 p.m. Feb. 11. Patrols responded and reported that Anne Ficarra, 24, of South 5th Avenue, allegedly had shoplifted from store three times in last month, taking items with a total value of $154.42. Patrolman Franzoso charged her on three counts of shoplifting at about 10 Feb. 12. She was released on $250 bail.
A South Street man came to headquarters at 6:05 p.m. to report he lost his red aluminum wallet sometime that day, Feb. 11. In it was his ID and debit card. He had been in Walmart and McDonald’s. He wanted it on the record.
