The AARP Foundation Tax Aide will offer free income tax form preparation help for older taxpayers and people with limited incomes. Representatives will be at the library from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, March 5, and Mondays, March 12, 19, 26, April 2 and 9.
You can learn about some of the favorite foods and beverages of past presidential families, and how presidents entertained at state dinners and for family and friends. A fee of $5 for refreshments will be asked at the door for this program on Wednesday, Feb. 29, at 6:30 p.m.
The Somerset County Library System can help job seekers land a new job through NJWorks@YourLibrary. The job search program will be at the library Thursday, March 1, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Upcoming programs intended for adults. Registration is required:
• Monday Morning Moms — Programs for mothers and caregivers are offered at 10 a.m. at the library. The topics of discussion come with recommended resources.
• Basic Computer Skills — This class will provide a basic introduction to using a computer. Monday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m.
• Evening movie — “J. Edgar,” a Clint Eastwood film about FBI Director Hoover and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Armie Hammer and Naomi Watts, will be shown Friday, March 2, at 7 p.m.
• Elder Care — The ABC’s of Aging and Home Care, which will talk about services and resources in the community for support and care of family members in need, will be given by Barbara McDonald RN, from the Community Visiting Nurse Association on Wednesday, March 7, at 7 p.m. A question-and-answer period will follow.

Youngsters are encouraged to participate in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) events during the first week in March, which is Technology Innovation Week in New Jersey.
Science programs take on an Inventors “then and now” theme. The program for grades K-2 will take place Monday, March 5, at 4 p.m. Grades 3-5 get their chance Tuesday, March 6, at 4:30 p.m.
For ages 4-6, a preschool science program of stories and hands-on activities for child and adult will be held Tuesday, March 6, at 10 a.m.
Robodyssey — Robodyssey Systems will provide robots to use while teaching how to program a robot using Microsoft Visual Basic. The final challenge will be a robot competition. Saturday, March 3, at 10 a.m. for grades 4-6, and 1:30 p.m. for grades 7-12.
The week culminates with a science fair for all grades on Thursday, March 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. Team 75 (Hillsborough High School Roboraiders) and the Hillsborough Public Library are co-hosting a Science Fair! Students in grades 5-8 will be demonstrating science projects! No registration required! Come on out and see what they’ve created!
Also for kids:
• Teen summer volunteer sign-up begins March 1. Teens entering grades 8-12 in the fall 2012 and looking for a way to earn community service hours can pick up an application to volunteer at the library this summer.
