Blood workers

NJ Blood Services, which supplies blood products and services to 60 hospitals throughout the state, is in need of volunteers to work blood drives. The blood service volunteer is an integral member of the collection team whose task it is assist donors with registration, escorting and canteen duties, and to watch for post donation reactions. Volunteers should have the ability to relate to the public, be able to perform different jobs as needed and have the willingness to follow the rules. Annual book sale
scheduled
South Brunswick High School Project Graduation is sponsoring its annual Used Book Sale March 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the school on Ridge Road. They are looking for used book and DVD donations for the sale. (Good condition: children’s books, hard cover books, paperbacks and DVDs no VHS). Book donations can be dropped off at the high school in the front foyer from Feb. 27-March 2. Please email Carol Desmond at [email protected] to make other arrangements for large donations. This is a great opportunity for you to get rid of your old books while helping Project Graduation, which provides an all-night, tobacco, alcohol and drug free celebration for the 2012 graduating class.
Tax help for
seniors available
AARP again this year will be providing free tax preparation at the South Brunswick Senior Center. This service is for senior citizens 50+, disabled adults and low-income individuals. Appointments are required. The program starts Feb. 2 and continues to April 5. Appointment times are 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays at the Senior Center. Residents can also make appointments on Mondays for sessions at the library. Please bring in a copy of last year’s return. The AARP preparers will be E-filing only.
