PLAINSBORO — William J. Enoch, 32, of Plainsboro, was charged with terroristic threats, impersonating a law enforcement officer, hindering and driving while intoxicated after police responded to Municipal Drive for a reported road rage incident on Feb. 20 at 8:54 p.m.
The victim had dialed 911 when Mr. Enoch started tailgating him on Dey Road while continuously flashing his high beams. He further reported that Mr. Enoch got out of his vehicle at a red light and violently banged on the vehicle, while threatening to kill him. The victim continued driving onto Municipal Drive where the police headquarters is located.
Police said that upon arrival, they saw Mr. Enoch banging on the victim’s vehicle and demanding the victim to get out of the vehicle.
When identification was requested, officials reported that Mr. Enoch identified himself as a law enforcement officer and displayed a Middlesex County Department of Corrections badge. Upon further investigation, police found he was no longer a law enforcement officer and had resigned approximately a year ago.
In speaking with Mr. Enoch, police said they detected the odor of alcohol and determined he had been driving under the influence.
Mr. Enoch was also issued summonses for driving while intoxicated in a school zone, reckless driving, careless driving, improper use of high beams, leaving a vehicle with the engine running, improper passing and tailgating.
He was released on $10,000 bail and appeared in Plainsboro Municipal Court on Feb. 22 at 9 a.m. where the case was transferred to Middlesex County Superior Court.
