West Amwell Township police Lt. Stephen J. Bartzak reported:
— On Feb. 13 at 6:23 p.m., police went to a car/deer accident on Route 202 near the Mt. Airy-Dilts Corner exit. Thomas Barklage, 44 of Doylestown, was driving south when his vehicle struck the deer. No injuries were reported. The vehicle was driven from the scene after a report was taken by Patrolman Jeffrey Jones.
— On Feb. 15 at approximately 5:58 p.m., police went to a one-vehicle accident on Rocktown-Lambertville Road near the Lambertville City line. Shawn Dame, 40, of West Amwell, lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway and went into a wooded area. Patrolman John Casella took him into custody for suspected driving while intoxicated at the scene. No injuries were reported. He was processed, issued summonses for driving while intoxicated and careless driving and released to a friend.
— On Feb. 19 at approximately 10:15 p.m., Patrolman Jonathan Sellner took Lauren Smykal, 27, of Califon, into custody for suspected driving while intoxicated. Ms. Smykal was stopped on Route 202 North by the Route 179 exit for speeding and driving erratically. During the traffic stop an open container of alcoholic beverage and a small amount of suspected marijuana were discovered. She was processed, charged with driving while intoxicated, possessing under 50 grams of suspected marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of an open container of alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle, speeding, failure to keep right, reckless driving and failure to exhibit a valid registration. She was released into the custody of a friend.
— On Feb. 20 at approximately 10 a.m., police went to a two-vehicle accident with minor injuries on Route 31 just south of the Linvale-Harbourton Road (Route 579) intersection. Alyssa Shellenberger, 22 of Quakertown, Pennsylvania, was driving south, pulled to the right shoulder after missing her designated turn and began to execute a U-turn into the path of a vehicle driven by Kristen Edwards, 21, of Flemington. This resulted in a T-bone collision. Amwell Valley Fire and Rescue responded to check both drivers who were shaken up. They sustained minor injuries. Both were checked by EMS personnel. Both refused to be transported to a medical facility.
Ms. Edwards’ vehicle was drivable. Ms. Shellenberger was issued a summons for careless driving by Patrolman Casella. Her vehicle was towed due to axle damage.
