Dayton Toyota of South Brunswick recently made a generous contribution of $5,000 to the South Brunswick Commission on Women.
David Nappa, President of Dayton Toyota said, “We are so honored to be a part of this program. When the South Brunswick Commission on Women came to us for support, we volunteered to help without hesitation. At Dayton Toyota, we will do anything we can to encourage the youth of South Brunswick to become independent, positive influences in the community.”
The money from Dayton Toyota will go toward events such as the Women’s Leadership Conference. This year marks the 15th Annual Women’s Leadership Conference and Career Pathways.
Three hundred and fifty participants (approximately 300 high school students and 50 speakers) will come together for the daylong event on March 17 at South Brunswick High School. During the program, young women of the South Brunswick community learn about different career opportunities available to them.
Princeton Merchants notes
The Princeton Merchants Association (PMA) held its monthly meeting at The Princeton Public Library recently and reviewed a number of exciting projects:
Michael Shuman will be giving a presentation entitled Unlocking the Economic Power of Local on March 13.
Pi Day and the Geek Weekend is coming on March 9 through 11, with the actual Pi Day being celebrated on 3/14 which also happens to be Albert Einstein’s birthday.
Communiversity will be held on Saturday, April 28.
Jack Morrison will continue acting as a liaison between the PMA and the state Department of Transportation as they gear up for the planned test in August to see what the impact of severely limiting access to Princeton from Route 1 will be. Local businesses are encouraged to contact Jack with concerns or to help.
The PMA also learned more about spices from Jon Hauge, owner of newly opened Savory Spice Shop on Spring Street.
Rocky Romeo, a local business consultant, shared his thoughts on building business by strengthening local communities, and Ken Greenberg, owner of HGM Media discussed his mobilize Princeton initiative.
Kristin Appleget, director of community and regional affairs for Princeton University, shared some interesting university facts. For example, did you know that the orange, black and white Tiger Transit buses are free for anyone to ride? They have a really amazing smartphone app and website that provides real-time viewing of where the fleet of buses is at any time on their six routes. Check it out at http://princeton.transloc.com.
After the PMA meeting, I had the opportunity to wish local business owner Jerry Maclean a happy birthday. Jerry is really excited about the MacLean Agency’s recently unveiled website. And he should be, because it’s terrific.
More than just a place to get an instant online quote, they provide a substantial library of informative videos, a homeowners’ insurance quiz, live chat with local insurance experts, and lots of other helpful resources all for free as a resource to the community.
Find out more by visiting www.macleanagency.com, or by calling 609-436-4969.
For those thinking about joining the PMA, and if you’re a local business in Princeton you really should, check out its website at princetonmerchants.org.
Library flag update
Several of us were surprised to learn that the Princeton Public Library didn’t have a flag available in the public meeting room. Not to worry. I’ve been told the library has a new one on order.
