Police checked a report of someone running around the Louise Drive neighborhood ringing doorbells at 12:23 a.m. Feb. 19, but found nothing.
A caller reported having a rabid skunk in the rear of a residence on South 11th Avenue at 10 a.m. Feb. 20. Animal control was notified and was to respond.
At 12:27 p.m. Feb. 20, an employee of Manville Masons Supply on Brooks Boulevard reported damage at the business. Police said sometime between 4:30 p.m. Feb. 17 and 9 a.m. Feb. 19 two extension cords, valued at $75 each, and one tire valve stem, valued at $100, were cut.
A caller at 2:08 p.m. Feb. 20 said he thought juveniles along the train tracks were shooting paintballs at trains near Clinton Avenue. Patrols respond and found someone was taking photographs and there were no problems.
A North 18th Avenue woman came to headquarters at 3:06 p.m. Feb. 20 to report a fraudulent purchase on her credit card. Police said three separate purchases totaling $702.93 were made. The credit card was canceled and the bank reimbursed the woman.
At 11:06 p.m. Feb. 20 Brian Sadowski reported the theft of several items from his Gress Street residence. Police said an electronic game system, electronic microphone and condenser, studio USB interface and two video games were missing. The microphone, valued at $1,100, was entered into the national crime registry. Patrolman William Sampson is to investigate.
At noon on Feb. 21 a North Main Street woman said there was an inappropriate touching of her juvenile child. The matter was referred to the detective bureau.
Two teens were charged with shoplifting $232.29 worth of items from Wal-mart on North Main Street at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 21.
County communications received a 9-1-1 call from the laundromat at 245 South St. at 8:10 p.m. Feb. 21. Patrols responded and reported a verbal argument over clothes.
At 8:12 p.m. Feb. 21 a Huff Avenue woman reported her engagement ring was either lost or taken from her home. She said two rings, valued at $10,000, were last seen between Dec. 20 and Feb. 20. Patrolman Nick Franzoso is investigating.
A woman reported at 11:44 a.m. Feb. 22 that her wallet was taken out of her purse while shopping in Wal-mart. Two hours later, she called again and said that her 4-year-old son had the wallet.
Vice Principal Steve Venuto reported shortly after noon Feb. 22 that a student had an over-the-counter dietary supplement in school. Patrols told him the supplement is not prohibited or controlled. The school was to handle any infractions of its rules.
A woman called at 8:43 p.m. Feb. 22 to say two green couches were dumped illegally on her father’s property on North 18th Avenue. She was going to contact the DPW the next day.
At 1:24 a.m. Feb. 23 a man reported the theft of his black BMX bicycle, valued at $450, in Memorial Park around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21. The bike was listed in the national crime registry.
A Jackson Avenue woman called at 7:33 a.m. Feb. 23 to say someone had broken a planter on her vehicle, with no further damage.
The glass window of the front door of Hair Palace at 109 South Main St. was broken between 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Feb. 23. The estimated value was $325.
A caller at 10:44 a.m. Feb. 23 said there was blood on the slide at Haran Avenue Park. Police confirmed a small amount and called DPW to wipe the blood with a disinfectant.
County communications reported a small fire on the back step of 281 South Main St. at 2:13 p.m. Feb. 23. Patrols, rescue squad and the fire department were called.
At 4:21 p.m. Feb. 23, Somerville police said they had an individual in custody who confessed to stealing a sewer grate from the PNC Bank lot. Police confirmed that one small grate was missing; Somerville police said they had it. Manville police brought the grate, valued at $100, back to the bank lot.
At 6:37 p.m. Feb. 23, police spoke to the South Main Street owner of a vehicle, who allegedly was “laying on the horn” up and down South 15th Avenue.
The rescue squad was dispatched at 7:25 p.m. Feb. 23 to the Reading Cinema to care for a 41-year-old Hillsborough woman who had passed out. She was taken to Somerset Medical Center.
Patrols reported heavy smoke coming from the top of 52 South Main St. at 8:14 p.m. Feb. 24. The rescue squad and fire company were dispatched and found the condition to be heavy steam from the laundromat. Fire fighters found the building OK.
County communications reported a pedestrian hit by a vehicle on South Main Street at 12:10 p.m. Feb. 25. Albert Fleming, 62, of South Main was taken to Somerset Medical Center.
Detective Bill Yankoski was flagged down at 9:24 a.m. Feb. 26 and told of a metal or cardboard “for rent” sign damaged in overnight hours.
The driver’s side mirror on a vehicle belonging to a North Street woman was damaged overnight, she reported at 9:57 a.m. Feb. 26. Estimated value was $100.
