HILLSBOROUGH: Student Kelly Janokowicz will attend journalists’ conference in July

Kelly Janokowicz, a student at Hillsborough High School, has been nominated to represent New Jersey as a national youth correspondent to the Washington Journalism and Media Conference from July 8-13.
Janokowicz will be one of 250 students from across the country to participate in a week-long study of journalism and media at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va. Janokowicz was chosen based on academics and a demonstrated interest and excellence in journalism and media studies.
National youth correspondents participate in hands-on, experiential learning through decision-making simulations that challenge them to solve problems and explore the creative, practical, and ethical tensions inherent in journalism and media. The program is complemented by speakers who are leaders in the media community. Last year’s conference included Hoda Kotb, Chuck Todd, Ann Kornblut and Jessica Yellin.
