The Hillsborough Democratic Alliance will host two District 16 Assembly hopefuls on Wednesday, March 7, at 7 p.m. in the main floor meeting room at Avalon Assisted Living, 393 Amwell Road.
Assembly candidates Sue Nemeth and Marie Corfield will make brief presentations, after which there will be a question-and-answer period.
Ms. Corfield is an elementary school art teacher. Ms. Nemeth served as deputy mayor in Princeton Township .
They will contest with each other in the June 5 primary to be the Democratic nominee for the remaining 14 months of the term to which Hillsborough’s Peter Biondi was re-elected in November. Two days, after the election, he died, triggering a replacement process that saw Readington Township Committeewoman Donna Simon selected by Republicans in January.
Hillsborough Democrats are also encouraged to register with www.barackobama.com if they haven’t already. By registering, they will receive emails about issues and local events as the presidential campaign gears up.
The Democratic Alliance provides participants an opportunity to discuss issues facing Hillsborough, Somerset County and New Jersey. Members of the Alliance are also active in the community and participate in charitable endeavors.
The Alliance is planning several social, fundraising and political events as this year’s campaign at all levels of office gear up.
