BORDENTOWN TOWNSHIP Construction on the Bottom Dollar grocery store at Route 130 and Farnsworth Avenue is progressing “extremely well,” according to township Construction Official Peter Carbone.
A tentative opening is slated for late April, he said.
The warm winter season has helped workers keep on schedule at the site of the abandoned Acme building, he noted.
All the walls and Sheetrock worked is completed expect for the ceiling. Currently the sprinkler system is being installed.
New islands for lighting are being created in the parking lot and other exterior work is under way, Mr. Carbone said.
As soon as the sprinklers and electrical work is done, there will be a preliminary final inspection and then shelving will be installed. The will be followed by the final inspection, he said.
Bottom Dollar, owned by the Belgium-based Delhaize Group, will take up two-thirds of the 300,000-square-foot lot.
