Elizabeth Milio, co-owner of Innovative Computer Services, Freehold Township, an Internet technology firm, received the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners Teal Heart award at the NJAWBO Monmouth-Ocean chapter awards dinner held Jan. 26. Milio earned the award for her recent help in managing the organization’s website and database. She previously earned the Teal Heart award in 1997.
Judy DeFeo was presented with the Business Woman of the Year award at the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners Monmouth-Ocean chapter awards dinner held Jan. 26. DeFeo, the owner of JADDE Financial Solutions of Marlboro, received the organization’s most prestigious award from NJAWBO’s president, Sue Fitzpatrick.
DeFeo launched her QuickBooks consulting business seven years ago after leaving a position as vice president in the Global Treasury and Banking Division of Goldman Sachs and Co. in New York City, which she held for more than 15 years, to be able to focus more on her family.
DeFeo created JADDE Financial Solutions where she works with small and medium size business owners to implement the business accounting software, and trains clients in how to best use the software to their advantage. In addition, DeFeo manages the financial records for clients, managing P&L reports and inventory, and tracking trends. She employs four professionals, retains more than 60 clients, and is constantly reinventing her business to meet the needs of her clients.
Dr. Ken A. Verni, psychologist and director of the New Jersey Center for Mindful Awareness, will present a free introductory talk about Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction on March 19 at the Freehold Jewish Center, 59 Broad St., Freehold.
MBSR is a comprehensive program originally developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn that introduces participants to mindfulness meditation practices as a means to better manage stress and cultivate well-being. The talk will include discussion and experiential exercises with mindfulness practice. No prior experience with meditation is needed. Students in kindergarten, preschool, pre-K and toddler classes at the Goddard School in Morganville participated in a Hop-A-Thon charity benefit on Feb. 20. The children raised $920 to support Easter Seals, a charity that provides services, education, outreach and advocacy so people living with autism and other disabilities can live, learn, work and play in our communities.
Accredited Health Services (AHS) recently announced that on Jan. 23 the company acquired certain assets of Midpoint Healthcare Services Inc. The acquisition adds private-duty nursing to AHS’s services, expands AHS’s employee base from 800 to 1,000 certified home health aides and nurses, and increases AHS’s coverage area. AHS will now provide homecare coverage in Monmouth and Ocean counties, to go along with previous coverage in Bergen, Hudson, Passaic, Essex, Union and Middlesex counties in New Jersey. The acquisition also gives AHS accreditation with the Commission on Accreditation for Home Care and the Community HealthAccreditation Program. Accreditation from these organizations demonstrates AHS’s adherence to the highest standards of care.
