Lady Vikings fall in state semifinals
By Ed Birch, Special Writer
The South Brunswick High School Lady Vikings basketball team lost its Central New Jersey State Semifinal contest last Saturday to the Jackson Memorial High School Jaguars, 50-38, in front of a crowd that numbered 300 screaming fans.
The Lady Vikings were very slow getting out of the gate as the Jaguars mounted an insurmountable 12-0 lead with just two minutes gone into the contest.
The hot shooting of the Jaguars led by Hannah Missry (23 total points and 10 rebounds) and Tiffany Montague (11 points) did not give the Lady Vikings a chance.
The full court press and the screaming actions of Jaguars head coach Rachel Goodale proved to be too much for Vikings head coach Beth Barrio and her season-long underrated squad.
Danielle Padovano led the Lady Vikings with 15 points along with Danielle Roberts’ 7 points and steady ball handling.
Most of Barrio’s key players will be returning to her team next year.
