MONROE — Three new officers recently were added to Monroe’s police force.
Officers Daniel Lang, Robert Thuring and Matthew Mordecai were sworn in by Mayor Richard Pucci at the Monroe Township Council meeting Monday.
Mr. Lang, 25, is from Sayreville and is a graduate of Kean University, Union. He graduated from the Cape May County Police Academy in January 2011.
Mr. Thuring, 24, is from Spotswood and is a 2011 graduate of Rutgers University. He graduated from the Somerset County Police Academy in June, 2011.
Mr. Mordecai, 29, is from Monroe and graduated from Rutgers in 2006. He graduated from the Burlington County Police Academy in August, 2008. Afterward, he worked for the Middlesex County College Police Department.
Mr. Lang, Mr. Thuring and Mr. Mordecai will start with a probationary salary of $49,263.There are about 50 officers in the Monroe Township police force.
According to the 2010 New Jersey State Police Crime Report, Monroe’s crime rate per 1,000 is 7.8 with two murders, eight robberies and 11 aggravated assaults reported in 2010.
