BORDENTOWN TOWNSHIP: Fishing contest to aid fight against cancer

BORDENTOWN TOWNSHIP — The third annual Men Fishing for Women Spring Pickerel Tournament to benefit the American Cancer Society of Cherry Hill’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign is on for Saturday, March 24, and Sunday, March 25, rain or shine.
The fish can be caught anywhere, but must be brought in live at weigh-in to The Sportsman Center on Route 130 North to be measured and weighed. Fish check-in times are Saturday, March 24, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 25, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
There’s a 22-inch minimum fish length and the longest fish wins. Weight determines a tiebreaker. Based on 100 entries, the first prize is $350, with $200 for second place. Third place gets a $100 gift certificate and fourth place wins a $50 gift certificate. Last year there were 93 entries.
The event is sponsored by Gary Horner, owner of The Sportsman Center. Donations to help out with expenses were also received from Dr. Scott Dorfner of the Burlington Family Medical Center, Office Max of Burlington, and Rite Aid of Roebling.
Entry fee is $10 and must be paid by Friday, March 23, and mailed with registration information of name, address, phone and email to: Gary Horner, 396 NY Ave., Columbus, NJ 08022. Checks should be made out to Sportsman Center.
