Three grand prize winners were selected in this year’s CD cover design contest as part of Red Ribbon Week.
The Hillsborough Township Life Skills Committee and the Hillsborough/Millstone Municipal Alliance held a contest for all 4th through 8th grade students to design and submit a CD cover that conveyed a positive, drug-free message.
The top winners were Katrina Liu from Amsterdam School, Diana Voronin of Auten Road Intermediate and Natasha Lippe of Woodfern School. They received a $50 gift certificate to a local book store and the 20 runners up .
During October’s Red Ribbon Week, all school students were invited to create an anti-drug message and incorporate their message into a CD cover, complete with artwork and song titles. Some students created these as part of their computer class, while other students did the work at home. Students were encouraged to talk to their families about their ideas for their cover.
The Municipal Alliance judged more than 450 entries. The winners were chosen based on the anti-drug message and how it was conveyed on the cover. The winning CDs are on display in the township municipal building.
All winners were awarded a gift certificate for a local book store.
Red Ribbon Week is intended to present a unified and visible commitment toward the creation of a Drug Free America.
