A Trenton man has been charged with burglary in connection with break-ins at the Crab Trap seafood market on Princeton Avenue after police found him standing in front of the store around 1:30 a.m. on March 8, according to police Lt. Charles B. Edgar.
William Clayborn, 38, of Trenton, was charged with two counts of burglary, one count of attempted burglary, two counts of theft and one count each of obstruction of the administration of law and possession of burglar tools, Lt. Edgar said.
Police officers on patrol responded to a burglar alarm at the Crab Trap on March 8, Lt. Edgar said. An officer saw Mr. Clayborn standing at the front door of the store. When Mr. Clayborn saw the officer, he jammed his hands in his pockets and began to walk away.
The police officer asked Mr. Clayborn to stop and to remove his hands from his pockets, but he refused. The officer caught up with Mr. Clayborn and made the arrest, Lt. Edgar said. Police discovered a landscaping rock in his pocket. In both of the two prior burglaries at the Crab Shack, the glass door to the store was broken to get inside.
Mr. Clayborn was taken to the Mercer County Corrections Center on $44,000 bail.
