Manville schools will hold a symposium on harassment, intimidation and bullying Thursday, March 22, at 9:30 a.m. in the Alexander Batcho Intermediate School Media Center.
The public is invited to attend.
Student counselors and students will share with the invited members of the community what the district is doing to create a school culture that is inclusive and accepts everyone.
The district student counselors, faculty, staff and students worked conscientiously well before September, when the law came into effect, to implement a response to the state’s harassment, intimidation and bullying law. The district has conducted formal presentations, professional learning activities for the faculty, staff and parents.
The symposium aims to provide information and heighten awareness of harassment, intimidation and bullying behavior and to offer students an opportunity to take ownership for the work they have accomplished within their schools regarding HIB.
Members of the school’s “external community” have been invited to attend. They include the police chief (who is sending a representative); members of Borough Council; others in Borough Hall; assemblymen and congressmen; surrounding parish pastors; and the principal from Christ the King School.
