Dining for Jacob: No One Fights Alone

By Heather Grande
BRIDGEWATER, NEW JERSEY n On Sunday April 15, 2012, Café Emilia will be hosting a benefit “Dining for Jacob!” Jacob Grecco is a 7 year-old boy, from Phillipsburg, N.J., who is battling a rare malignant brain tumor. The dining benefit will consist of two reservation times for patrons to choose from. Reservations have to be made and paid for in advance by emailing [email protected].
No one fights cancer alone. In the summer of 2011, organizer Heather Grande was working with her family and friends on a fundraiser for Ian Progin and his family, Progin’s Players a run/walk team. Ian Progin, Heather’s cousin, is fighting a glioblastoma brain tumor. “Through Progin’s Players we met the Grecco family and learned about Jacob” Grande explains. “He and Ian were in treatment at the same hospital, and we became friendly with Jacob’s mom. After watching this little boy fight this cancer with such strength, we knew we wanted to help out in any way we could.”
“After Progin’s Players, the thing that struck me most was the love and support the Progin family felt. We wanted to do that for another family too.” Grande explains.
Café Emilia, in Bridgewater, NJ, quickly offered to host the fundraiser and to let Jacob know they were behind him! The cost is $100 per person, and that includes: an appetizer, a salad, a choice of one of three entrees, dessert, coffee/tea and soft drinks. Bar service is available, as a cash bar. 100% of all proceeds will benefit Jacob Grecco. Reservations times are 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
