ACCLAIMED CAROLYN DORFMAN DANCE COMPANY TO PERFORM AT NJPAC’s JERSEY MOVES! FESTIVAL OF DANCE

By Irene Maslowski
The highly acclaimed Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company (www.cddc.info) will be a featured performer at the two-day celebration of dance,  “Jersey Moves! Festival of Dance” at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) taking place on Saturday, March 24 and Sunday, March 25.
On Saturday, March 24 at 7:30 p.m., the company will perform “Cat’s Cradle, a stunning and poignant work that depicts the beauty of the creative mind and soul of Jewish artists who were sent to Theresienstadt, a concentration camp in Czechoslovakia, during World War II.  Constructed by the Germans as a “model city” for the world to see, Theresienstadt was place where many artists, intellectuals and professionals were sent and resulted in an enormous amount of creative output.
According to Carolyn Dorfman, Founder and Artistic Director, “Despite the pain endured, the life and light they embodied demonstrates the ability of the human spirit to soar amidst the darkness.  “Cat’s Cradle” is a story of survival, will and connection, past and present.  It is the story of my family, my people, and the human race.”
Also, performing on March 24th will be Alborada Spanish Dance Theatre, Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company, New Jersey Ballet, and Umoja Dance Company. Ticketholders will be invited to stay after each day’s performance for an hour long talk-back with the companies’ artistic directors. For ticket and festival information, visit: http://www.njpac.org.
