POLICE BLOTTER: Week of March 23

Hightstown
Police said officers took custody of Brittany Vatovec, 19, of Manalapan, at 8:40 a.m. March 7. At the time, she was being released from the Monmouth County Jail on a detainer issued by Hightstown Borough Municipal Court in the amount of $1,000. Ms. Vatovec was later transferred to the Mercer County Adult Correction Center in lieu of bail.
Police said that a resident of the 100 block of Clinton Street reported at 12:48 p.m. March 8 being a victim of a theft, which occurred on March 6 1:15 p.m. and 3 p.m. An unknown subject or subjects removed a package from the victim’s porch that was delivered by the United States Postal Service; the package was valued at $52, police said.Anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Hightstown Borough Police Department, 609-448-1234.
Officers arrested Paulo Lopes-Salvador, 29, of South River, just after 2 a.m. March 10 on Main Street, police stated. Mr. Lopes-Salvador was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated in a school zone, reckless driving, careless driving, and speeding. According to police, while on patrol, officers observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and recorded the speed of the suspect vehicle at 50 mph in a 25 mph speed zone. The vehicle was subsequently stopped for the infraction and the officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage upon the driver. The driver, Mr. Lopes-Salvador, was given field sobriety tests, which he failed, and was taken into custody. At police headquarters Mr. Lopes-Salvador submitted breath samples resulting in a reading of 0.11 percent blood alcohol content, police said. He was processed and later released with several motor vehicle summonses and pending court action.
Near 1 p.m. March 13, officers took custody of Angel Gonzalez II, 41, of Rogers Avenue, Hightstown, for contempt of court, police said. Mr. Gonzalez was arrested by the Robbinsville Township Police Department on a Hightstown Borough Municipal Court warrant issued for $1,000. Mr. Gonzalez was transferred to the Mercer County Adult Correction Center in lieu of bail.
East Windsor
Peter Herrera-Leon, 27, of Dutch Neck Road, was arrested for driving while intoxicated on Pierce Road near 4 a.m. March 4. An officer observed a gray Infiniti traveling east on Dutch Neck Road near Wilmor Drive. The vehicle was operating in an erratic manner, police said, and it was stopped after it turned onto Pierce Road. The driver, Mr. Herrera-Leon, was observed by the officer to be spraying air freshener inside the vehicle as he approached, however, the officer was still able to detect an odor of an alcoholic beverage, police said. Mr. Herrera-Leon was given field sobriety tests and ccharged with DWI. He was also charged with refusal to submit breath samples, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to maintain lane, failure to keep right, obstructing traffic, failure to signal turn, and failure to wear a seatbelt. At headquarters, Mr. Herrera-Leon failed to provide proper breath samples, police said. He was later released pending court action.
On March 8 at 1:40 a.m., officers responded to a vacant Etra Road house for a report of a house fire. There were signs of forced entry observed to the house, police said. The fire was extinguished by responding fire personnel and the incident is under investigation, police stated.
Twin Rivers Trust personnel reported at 1:03 a.m. March 8 that the glass front entrance door had been broken overnight, police said. The incident is under investigation and damage was estimated at $300 to the Twins Rivers Trust building.
A complainant reported that her vehicle was parked in the front parking lot of the Americana Diner when it was scratched with a sharp object down the side of the vehicle between 5:25 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. March 8, police said. Damage was estimated at $1,000.
Mario Sanchez-Marinos, 22, of Groveville, was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving, reckless driving, improper turning, speeding, and failure to maintain lane on Hickory Corner Road at 2:24 a.m. March 10. Police said an officer observed a silver Toyota exit the Brunswick Zone parking lot and turn left onto Route 130 in violation of a right-turn only sign. The vehicle was stopped when it turned onto Hickory Corner Road and was observed continuing to operate erratically, police stated. The driver, Mr. Sanchez-Marinos, was found to have an odor of an alcoholic beverage and bloodshot, watery eyes. He was given field sobriety tests and charged with DWI. He was later released pending court action.
Just after 4 a.m. March 9, an officer responded to Milford Road near Etra Road for a report of a fire. Upon arrival, the officer found a wooden produce stand in flames, police said. The flames were extinguished by the officer and responding fire personnel. The incident is under investigation.
At 11:35 p.m. March 14, Sukhwinder Sarao, 47, of Princeton Arms West, was charged with driving while intoxicated on Dutch Neck Road. An officer observed a 1993 Lexus traveling south on Route 130 approaching Dutch Neck Road. The vehicle illegally circumvented the red light by driving through the 7-Eleven parking lot and turning onto Dutch Neck Road, police said. The vehicle was stopped and the officer detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage. Police said the driver’s eyes were bloodshot and watery. Mr. Sarao, the driver, was given field sobriety tests and charged with DWI. He was also charged with careless driving, reckless driving, circumventing traffic control device and failure to signal turn. Mr. Sarao was later released pending court action.
A complainant reported that a construction Dumpster containing scrap metal was stolen from the NJ Turnpike construction site on Wycoffs Mill Road, police said, between 5:45 p.m. March 13 and 6:45 p.m. March 15. The Dumpster was said to be worth approximately $6,000. The incident is under investigation.
Dilcia Martinez, 40, of Hightstown, was charged with disorderly conduct just before 1 a.m. March 17 on Abbington Drive, police said. Officers responded to an Abbington Drive residence for a report of an intoxicated woman screaming. The woman, Ms. Martinez, continued screaming obscenities outside the apartment and refused attempts by officers to calm her down, police said. She was arrested for disorderly conduct and later released pending court action in order to be transported to Hamilton Hospital for treatment of a cut on her foot, which, police said, happened during the initial disturbance.
An officer responded to the tunnel at Abbington Drive for a report of some type of disturbance at 8:47 p.m. March 18, police said. While investigating, the officer was allegedly given false personal information by one of the individuals present. The man’s true identity was determined as being Kenneth Magnus, 24, of Abbington Drive, police said. The police then learned that Mr. Magnus had an outstanding warrant from Robbinsville Township. He was arrested, charged with obstructing justice and hindering apprehension, and turned over to Robbinsville Township police for the outstanding warrant.
Paul Truncellito, 28, of Jamestown Road, was charged with resisting arrest and peeping Tom, police said, on Jamestown Road at 9:10 p.m. March 18. Officers responded to a Jamestown Road address for a report of an unknown individual peering into the complainant’s windows. An individual fitting the description of the suspect was located nearby, urinating on a bus stop bench, and fled on a bicycle, police said. Police said Mr. Truncellito flattened a tire on a curb and began fleeing on foot. He was eventually caught by an officer at which time police said Mr. Truncellito physically resisted arrest. In addition to the peeping Tom and resisting arrest charges, Mr. Truncellito was charged with obstructing justice and urinating in public. He was later released pending court action.
Police said a complainant reported that two of her vehicles were parked in the parking lot of the 53 building of Windsor Regency for nine days and when she returned, both vehicles had a tire punctured. The damage, which is said to have occurred between 9 p.m. March 9 and 10:30 p.m. March 18 was estimated at $600. The incident is under investigation.
A complainant reported that his vehicle was parked in the rear parking lot of Shop Rite when it was scratched on the driver’s side front and rear doors with a sharp object between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. March 19, police said. Damage is estimated at $1,000 and the incident is under investigation.
