Superintendent’s evaluation: The Board of Education will meet in closed session at 6 p.m. in the Alexander Batchko Intermediate School (ABIS) media center to discuss the performance evaluation of Superintendent Johanna Ruberto. No action will be taken.

Flower sale: Sponsored by North End Volunteer Fire Company No. 3 Ladies Auxiliary. On Thursday, April 5, a sale will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the firehouse on the corner of North 8th Avenue and Louis Street. Sale moves outdoors on Friday from noon to sunset and Saturday from 9 a.m. to sunset in the parking lot of Rhythms bar and grill, South Main and Wilhousky streets.

Family bowling: The Manville Education Foundation is sponsoring the spring break event at Ten Pin Lanes, 1 Rustic Mall, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. $15 per person includes bowling, pizza, beverage and prizes. Tickets can be purchased through each school office. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

Flea market and craft show: Vendors and crafters wanted for event run by the squad auxiliary to benefit the Manville First Aid & Rescue Squad indoors from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at VFW hall, 600 Washington Ave., rain or shine. Free admission. Also a bake sale and breakfast/lunch available.

Board of Education meeting: The board has moved its meeting previously scheduled for Monday, April 16, to 7 p.m. in the ABIS Media Center.

Mother’s Day brunch: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Manville-Hillsborough Elks, Brooks Blvd, Hillsborough. $10 per person, children under 12 for $5 and under 3 free. 908-725-1717 for information.

Lenten soup sale: Holy Ghost Church preparing meat-free soups on Fridays through April 6 for the benefit of the church. Soups, halushki and frozen pirohi will be available at the church at Roosevelt and 6th Avenue. Pickup is 4- 6 p.m. Soup is $8 per quart, halushki $6 per quart and frozen pirohi $6 per dozen. Public library book sale: Buy donated and surplus books to support the library. Non-sale hardcover books are 50 cents; soft-cover 25 cents each or by the bag for $2.
