MANVILLE: Police blotter for week of March 29

   A Kendall Park man came to headquarters at 12:09 p.m. March 19 to report a theft of an 18-inch gold chain valued at $3,000 on March 16.

   Wal-Mart security reported holding a suspected shoplifter in custody at 7:07 p.m. March 19. Kaitlyn Albanese, 26, of Manville was charged with shoplifting, and, while processing, she was found to be facing a Branchburg warrant for $200. She was released after posting $250 bail on the shoplifting charge and $200 for the warrant.

   At 8:13 a.m. March 20 a South Bank Street resident reported a theft of an all-aluminum compressor coil and connectors. An investigation was initiated.

   A North 10th Avenue woman came to headquarters at 1 p.m. March 20 to report that her name was used to open several lines of credit in Texas. An investigation will begin.

   An East Frech Avenue man reported at 2:24 p.m. March 20 the theft of items from his vehicle. Assorted automotive performance items with a total value of $2,106 as well as a bottle of 90 pills of alprazolam were reported taken. An investigation is to continue.

   A South 11th Avenue man reported March 20 at 6 p.m. scratches to the rear passenger corner panel and tailgate occurred between 4 p.m. March 17 and 4 p.m. March 18. He wanted it on the record.

   A West Camplain Road woman reported a parked car was hit-and-run in front of her house at 7:30 p.m. March 20.

* * *

   A woman in a West Camplain Road apartment complained about loud noise from an adjacent apartment at 8:30 p.m. March 20. Police spoke to a man there who said he would turn off all power tools for the night.

   An unknown man with a goatee left in a red car after punching a 26-year-old South Main Street man at 9:39 p.m. March 20, reported a Wal-Mart assistant store manager. The victim refused medical attention.

   Patrol responded and untangled an apparently intoxicated man, 49, from his bicycle in back of a Roosevelt Avenue address at 10:21 p.m. March 20. No medical attention was required.

   A resident in a Wyoming Place building reported at 3:10 a.m. March 21 the theft of about $56 from his room.

* * *

   A South Main Street man reported minutes after midnight March 22 that he had lent his vehicle at 9 p.m. to someone who had not returned it. Patrolman Steier located the vehicle and told the owner he could pick it up on West Camplain Road.

   A caller at 5:23 a.m. March 22 reported waking up to find two bags of ShopRite cheese misplaced.

* * *

   Police responded to a caller’s complaint at 6:45 a.m. March 22 about finding red paint on her vehicle. The gray Kia had also been hit with eggs, both sometime after 10:30 p.m. the previous night. She wanted it on the record.

   A caller at 7:29 a.m. March 22 said someone threw a brick through the back windshield of her 2001 Lexus on Kennedy Boulevard sometime after 8:30 the previous night. Value of damage was put at $300.

   Jeremy Tejeda, 19, of the Bronx, N.Y., was arrested by Patrolman Widitz and charged with trespassing and resisting arrest at Adesa Auto Auction at 9:26 a.m. March 22. He was released on $500 bail.

   A man came into headquarters at 1:53 p.m. March 22 to report that his dealer plate was gone from a Mercedes 430 at Adesa Auto Auction earlier that day. The plate was entered as stolen.

   Linda C. Ellis, 51, of Pope Street was charged at 4:34 p.m. March 22 with shoplifting at Wal-Mart on North Main Street. She was released on $500 bail.

   Patrolman Sheffrin reported arresting Shaheed Carson, 33 of New Brunswick and charging him with possession of less than 50 grams of controlled dangerous substance while trying to walk through the metal detector at municipal court at 6:52 p.m. March 22. He was released. .

   A 2003 Ford Explorer, reportedly stolen in York City, was reported recovered at Adesa Auto Auction at 11:19 a.m. March 23.

* * *

   A patrolman from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, called police here to say someone in his city had bought a cross bow and arrow off Craig’s List and sent a $500 money order to a Haran Avenue address in Manville, but never received the item. An investigation is to continue.

   Andre T. White of a South Main Street apartment was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and obstruction at 1:26 p.m. March 23. Pending criminal warrants from Bound Brook and Somerville were found. He was released on the Manville charges and advised to contact the other two courts.

   A caller alerted police to a fight behind the Manville Diner at 6:50 p.m. Friday March 23. Josh Landis, 22, of South Main Street was charged with harassment, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, obstruction, resisting arrest, simple assault and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken for a psychiatric exam and lodged in Somerset County Jail in lieu of bail.

   A Duke’s Parkway man reported at 3:08 a.m. March 24 that two men had dropped tools in the middle of the street and left the area. Patrols removed the items.

   Patrols reported at 7:40 a.m. March 24 that a vehicle on South 2nd Avenue had all four tires, driver side window and headlight covered with white spray paint.

* * *

   Police said an extremely intoxicated man who lives on South 17th Avenue walked into police headquarters at 5:10 p.m. March 24 and claimed he had been assaulted by another man on South Street. He was told he could sign a complaint and then was taken to Somerset Medical Center by the rescue squad.

   A South 15th Avenue man reported minutes after midnight March 25 that someone was on his balcony and damaged his screen door. Patrols didn’t find anyone. Estimated damage was put at $500.
