CHESTERFIELD — The Township Committee unanimously introduced its $4,023,000 budget March 22.
Residents could see a tax rate of 29 cents per $100 for $1,150.89 in taxes.
The committee previously approved an ordinance to establish a cap bank for $80,447 to allow them to exceed the municipal budget appropriations.
The local government cap law “provides that in the preparation of its annual budget, shall limit any increase in said budget to 2 percent unless authorized by ordinance to increase it to 3.5 percent over the previous year’s final appropriations,” according to the ordinance.
The public hearing for the budget is set for April 26.
