LAMBERTVILLE: Ege gets Parsons’ MUA job

By John Tredrea, Special Writer
LAMBERTVILLE — Melissa Ege, who began working as the new administrative assistant at the Lambertville Municipal Utilities Authority (MUA) on March 19, says she knows she “has big shoes to fill.”
Those shoes were worn by Barbara Parsons, who was the MUA’s administrative assistant for 33 years. She was honored by the City Council with an official proclamation on March 19, which designated this coming Saturday, March 31, as Barbara Parsons Day in the city.
Ms. Parsons is actually still on the job, training Ms. Ege.
”I have a great teacher in Barbara,” Ms. Ege said Monday. “There’s a lot to learn, and she’s been very encouraging and about getting me on track with accounts receivable and all other things we do here. We’re getting ready to print bills now.”
Originally from West Amwell, Ms. Ege graduated from South Hunterdon Regional High School. A former Lambertville resident, she currently resides in Phillipsburg with her husband and their 2-year-old son. She said they may move back to this area now that she’s started with the MUA.
Before coming on board with the MUA, she worked for her father-in-law, Mitchell Ege, in his construction business and at his Swan Creek Auto Care shop.
She did billing work in both places and did auto dealing at the Swan Creek shop, as well.
When not working, she likes jogging.
”I took it up recently and find that it’s a good thing to do. I’ve run in the Turkey Trot in Flemington and some other 5K runs. And I like to draw, and to take my son to the park,” she said.
