EAST WINDSOR: Township nets $220,000 state grant for roads

EAST WINDSOR – Mayor Janice Mironov announced this week that East Windsor Township has been awarded a $220,000 grant from the New Jersey Department of Transportation Fiscal Year 2012 Municipal Aid Program for improvements to Dutch Neck Road from Hickory Corner Road to Oak Creek Road.
The nearly quarter-of-a-million state grant will be used to resurface the road as well as to implement other associated improvements to curbing, drainage and handicap ramps, a township press release said. The work will be undertaken later this year, and the project is expected to take about 30 working days.
Mayor Mironov stated, “We are pleased to receive this roadway improvement grant, and look forward to continuing our efforts to improve another important roadway area in East Windsor. These funds will allow the township to perform roadway improvements to approximately one-half mile of Dutch Neck Road from Hickory Corner Road to Oak Creek Road. Dutch Neck Road is a major and frequently used municipal roadway, which has deteriorated.”
In fiscal 2011, East Windsor was awarded $250,000 for improvements to Twin Rivers Drive from Jamestown Road to Evanston Drive, the release said. In previous years, East Windsor obtained $316,000 for improvements to Twin Rivers Drive North from Probasco Road to Hebron Drive, two grants in the amounts of $290,000 and $150,000 for improvements to Hickory Corner Road from Route 130 to Dutch Neck Road, $250,000 for improvements to Dutch Neck and One Mile Road, $235,000 for improvements to Abbington Drive between Lake Drive and Twin Rivers Drive, and $225,000 for improvements to Twin Rivers Drive between Milford Road and Evanston Drive.
