Wine, cheese fundraiser
Tonight, there will be a Wine and Cheesecake Tasting fundraiser, featuring specialty beers to benefit the Hightstown Bridge Committee at the Hightstown Diner, 151 Mercer St., from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Soda and coffee will also provided.
Guests must be 21 to taste and 14 to attend.
Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door per person. 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the bridge fund.
After Prom spring cleaning
The Hightstown High School After Prom will be having a used clothing collection fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the front vestibule of Hightstown High School, 25 Leshin Lane.
Donors are asked to place donations in tightly tied plastic bags.
Items that can be donated include usable and wearable clothing for all seasons and all sizes. Items sought include clothing for men, women and children; shoes, beanie babies, rag dolls and stuffed animals; blankets, pillows, bed sheets and comforters; drapery and curtains; tablecloths; towels; small rugs; quilts; pocketbooks and handbags; belts; baby accessories; backpacks; hats; scarves; briefcases; and gloves and ties.
Special meeting on Hurricane Irene recovery
A special meeting to discuss Hurricane Irene recovery efforts will take place 7 p.m. April 3 at the First Aid building on Bank Street in the Borough of Hightstown.
The Borough Council is scheduled to enter into executive session per contract negotiations at 6 p.m.
Environmental concerns, dating back to Hurricane Irene, have kept Borough Hall, 148 N. Main St., closed since the end of August, and the ongoing matter is set to be a topic of conversation at the special meeting.
