HILLSBOROUGH: At library, learn how to download e-books

   Learn how to download electronic books to a PC, eReader, personal digital assistant (PDA) or Smartphone — all with a few simple clicks — in a program at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 11. eReader devices will be available for practice.
   Note that the library will be closed on Friday, April 6, and that ESL Conversation Group has been canceled for the five Mondays in April.
   Upcoming programs intended for adults. Registration is required:
   • The AARP Foundation Tax Aide will offer free income tax form preparation help for older taxpayers and people with limited incomes. Representatives will be at the library from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays, April 2 and 9.
   • Monday Morning Moms — Mothers and caregivers are invited to a demo class for Kids’ MusicRound at 10 a.m. April 9.
   • Digital camera workshop — Photographer Walter Choroszewski will bring his photo expertise, humor and straight talk perspective for an introduction to the basics of photography in the Digital Age. Tuesday, April 10, at 7 p.m.
   • Book discussion — The featured book of this Friends of the Library event is “The Alienist” by Caleb Carr. Tuesday, April 10, at 7:30 p.m.
   • Evening movie — Meryl Streep won the Oscar for best actress for her portrayal of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in the film “Iron Lady” at Friday, April 13, at 7 p.m.
   Here are programs for youngsters. Registration is required.
   Teen summer volunteer sign-up has begun. Teens entering grades 8-12 in the fall and who are looking for a way to earn community service hours can pick up an application to volunteer at the library this summer.
 Stories for 4’s, 5’s & 6’s — Help your preschool or kindergarten child get ready to read. ! Enjoy stories together and build language skills. On Monday, April 2, at 1 p.m. the program is colors.
   • Rhyme Time (ages newborn to 2) — Join us for 20 minutes of nursery rhyme fun on Tuesdays, April 3 and 10, at 10:30 a.m.
   • Math Matters (ages 4-6) — Stories and activities will get math brains working. A program on measurement will be held Thursday, April 5, at 10 a.m.
   • Toddler Time: Bundle Up! (ages 2-3) — Introduce the pleasure of books to your child in stories and songs and more. Tuesday, April 3, at 10 a.m.
   • TAB meeting (grades 6-12) — The Teen Advisory Board helps plan teen programs while enjoying some tasty treats. Attendance counts towards community service hours. Tuesday, April 3, at 7 p.m.
   • First Look Books (grades 6-12) — Want a free book? Get a sneak peek at teen titles before they hit the shelves. Tell us what you think and take one home. Monday, April 9, at 5 p.m.
   • Stories for 4’s, 5’s & 6’s — Help your preschool or kindergarten child enjoy stories together and build language skills. The program for Monday, April 9, at 1 p.m. will be on bunnies.
   • Toddler Time (ages 2-3) — Introduce the pleasure of books to your child! Join us for stories on pets on Tuesday, April 10, at 10 a.m.
   • Afterschool Science (grades 3-5) — Have fun investigating “stormy weather” on Wednesday, April 11, at 3 p.m.
   • Science for 4’s, 5’s & 6’s: Kids love science! Join us for stories and hands-on activities about the science of stormy weather as you and your child explore science concepts together. Thursday, April 12, at 10 a.m.
   • Afterschool Science (grades K-2) — Join us for some hands-on science fun on stormy weather. Thursday, April 12 at 3 p.m.
   • Singing Babies (newborn to 24 months) — Start your little one on the road to a lifetime love of music-making. Friday, April 13 at 10 a.m.
   • Story and songs (ages 2-6) — Join us for an interactive storytime and musical activities. Saturday, April 14, at 10 a.m.
   • Teen afternoon movie (grades 6-12) — Bring your friends to see “Super 8” (rated PG-13). Snacks will be provided. Saturday, April 14, at 2 p.m.
   The Homework Help Center for grades 5-8 is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4-6 p.m.; Tuesday 4-6 and 6:30-8:30 p.m.
