Super Sundaes at 435 Amwell Road will donate $1,544 as a result of its “Survivor Sundae Fundraiser Game” fund raiser for the four classes at Hillsborough High School.
Each class created a sundae with a flavor of ice cream and toppings. The more the class sundae sold at $5 apiece, the more money that class made. Each class got at least $1 for each of the 1,222 sundaes sold.
Every grade sold more than last year, but the most (462) supported the junior class “Shark Bait Sundae” of vanilla and chocolate ice creams with Oreos, mini-Kisses and blue sprinkles. It brought the class $578.
Next came the senior class with its sundae of vanilla ice cream with cookie dough, mini-M&Ms and hot fudge. A total of 434 were sold, netting $519.
The sophomores sold 194 of their sundae (vanilla ice cream with brownie bites, cookie dough and hot fudge) and gained $250. The freshmen’s sundae of cake and ice cream and mint chocolate chip ice creams with chocolate crunchies, brownie bites and cookie dough sold 132, bringing $197.
In March 2011, 695 sundaes were sold and $975 was donated.
Students enjoyed the opportunity to create their own on March 8 and 14, said owner Jayne Mochnacz. Most wanted to try another class’s entry without supporting the other class.
The store offered “Buy Now Enjoy Later” coupons, which could be bought and earn a team the $1, and be redeemed for any sundae until June 30. The coupons were mostly purchased by parents, said Ms. Mochnacz.
”We had customers who had no students at the high school enjoy the sundaes,” said Ms. Mochnacz.
”One couple tried two of each sundae.”
“””“”“””As a resident and small business owner in town, we feel it is important to work together, support and give back to the community,” said Ms. Mochnacz. “We feel this was a win-win opportunity for us all.”
Super Sundaes will also donate $220 to Project Graduation from its ice cream cake coupon sale.
