North Brunswick, Edison men charged with trying to sell pills

SOMERVILLE — Two local men have been charged with allegedly trying to sell 200 Cialis pills on the streets.

Dhavalkum Thakkar, 27, of Edison, was charged with possession of prescription legend drugs with the intent to distribute, and Mrunac Joshi, 22, of North Brunswick, was charged with conspiracy to distribute prescription legend drugs, according to a press release from Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of Detectives Stuart Buckman and Franklin Township Chief of Police Lawrence Roberts.

On March 30, detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Force and the Franklin Township Police Department observed Joshi and Thakkar allegedly negotiating the sale of Cialis pills in the area of Hamilton Street in Franklin Township. Both defendants were approached by Task Force detectives and detained, according to the statement. During a search of Thakkar’s Honda Odyssey van, 200 pills were seized.

The estimated street value of the Cialis seized is $1,000.

Both defendants were lodged in the Somerset County Jail with bail set at $75,000 each, cash or bond.
