“The Jewish Afterlife … and Getting There Gently” with Bruce Birnberg
Somerset, NJ – “The Jewish Afterlife…and Getting There Gently,” will be presented at The Oscar and Ella Wilf Campus for Senior Living with speaker Bruce Birnberg. This intellectually stimulating presentation will make you laugh, cry and ponder the meaning of life…and death. The presentation focuses on “why we do what we do” in the Jewish tradition. There will be illustrations contrasting beliefs from Hindu, Christian and Mexican traditions to provide an all encompassing view of different afterlife theories from many different societies.   “Speculation about what happens to the soul after death is exceedingly interesting,” Bruce Birnberg said, smiling as he leaned back in his chair.
Bruce Birnberg, Executive Director of The Martin and Edith Stein Hospice, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Family Therapist. He came to Stein Hospice in order to work in the Jewish community. Before this, Bruce worked as the Associate Director at JFK Family Medicine Residency Program, teaching resident physicians a sophisticated psychosocial curriculum, which included end-of-life issues.
As a Hospice director for a faith-based hospice, Bruce is aware of the wide variety of beliefs concerning the afterlife. Over the two years, Bruce has been giving a presentation on the afterlife, a topic that has fascinated him for years. Bruce states, “I get asked a lot ‘Do you really believe the things you’re presenting?’ and the truth is that I do, 90% of the time. That’s what so amazing about this topic. Views of the afterlife are very personal, and can be fluid, changing over time.”
We ask that you join us to take a multi-cultural, multi-media romp through death, dying and the next world with Bruce Birnberg, LCSW. This is a free presentation and dinner will be served (Kosher Dietary Laws will be observed). Advanced registration is required to attend, please call 732-227-1212 or email at [email protected]
