West Windsor, NJ: Mercer County Community College (MCCC) cordially invites the community to two free Spring concerts in May. The college’s Chorus and Jazz Band will perform at Kelsey Theatre, located on the West Windsor Campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. Admission is free. The MCCC Chorus, directed by Susan Howells, will perform a wide variety of choral music on Tuesday, May 8, at 7:30 p.m. The chorus consists of music majors and students from across the campus who enjoy ensemble singing. The program features music from the renaissance, baroque, classical and romantic periods, as well as folk songs from the 20th century. The program will include vocal solos by music majors.
The MCCC Jazz Band, directed by Professor James Kelly, will present a varied and exciting show on Wednesday, May 9, at 8 p.m. The repertoire will includeLatin, swing and bebop classics by John Coltrane, Tina Brooks, Thelonius Monk and others. All selections will featurestandout improvisations by jazz students, who will be performing in small groups as well as in the full band.
