Obama isn’t to blame for rise in gas prices

A am writing in response to your March 22 editorial cartoon, which appears to reflect the recent Republican talking point that President Obama is directly to blame for rising gas prices.

Putting aside numerous recent reports that such rises are most likely the result ofWall Street speculation in combination with the recent threats of war against Iran (which were not initiated by this president), one has to ask the question: If billions of dollars in government subsidies on top of billions of dollars in profits ($137 billion in 2011 alone) are not enough to keep the oil companies competitive, isn’t it time to find a better investment of federal dollars?
