EAST WINDSOR — Fannie Rios, 71, a resident of Hooverton Place, died on Thursday from injuries suffered after her car collided with an UPS vehicle at the intersection of Route 33 and Woodside Avenue, according to the township Police Department.
At approximately 1:11 p.m. April 12 the East Windsor Township Police Department said it responded to a reported motor vehicle collision.
Police said that preliminary investigation revealed that an UPS Cartage Services 2007 international truck, of Roswell, Georgia, was traveling west on Route 33 when Ms. Rios, traveling south on Woodside Avenue, entered into the intersection and crashed into the UPS vehicle.
Ms. Rios was airlifted to Capital Health Systems Medical Center, Fuld Campus, for unspecified traumatic injuries, police said. Ms. Rios was pronounced dead at approximately 4:15 p.m.
William Dun, 56, of Springfield, the driver of the UPS vehicle, was not injured, according to police.
Route 33 was closed “for a brief time,” police said. It reopened at approximately 4:20 p.m.
The matter is under investigation by the East Windsor Police Department and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.
