For immediate release: Stockton Inn to host “Locavore Wine Dinner” with Unionville Vineyards
STOCKTON, NJTwo of Hunterdon County’s epicurean mainstays are teaming up next month to celebrate all things local on the dish and in the glass. The Stockton Inn and Unionville Vineyards are planning the “Locavore Wine Dinner,” an event sure to delight resident foodies.
The six-course feast on May 10th will feature ingredients that are sourced locally, and organic whenever possible, and wine pairings from the Ringoes-based winery. Highlights include herb-crusted filet mignon with local morels & chanterelles, a cheese course with a selection of offerings from Bobolink Dairy in Milford, NJ, and oysters with spinach “caviar,” showcasing chef Craig Lagud’s foray into molecular gastronomy.
“We have over a dozen farms within a five mile radius of The Stockton Inn,” commented proprietor Fred Strackhouse. “We are eager to showcase the agriculture of the area.” The Inn’s general manager, John Cifelli, echoed the sentiment. “Any time you can say you know exactly where your food came from and simultaneously reduce your food’s carbon impact, it’s a great thing. Eating better begins in the back yard.”
Winemaker Cameron Stark, who will preside over the event, thinks the great food has met its match in his wines. “The menu is fantastic and will allow the wines to really shine. Much of what we do at Unionville is geared towards being food-friendly, so this kind of event is right in our wheelhouse.”
The Thursday evening dinner begins at 7:00pm. The cost per person is $60. A reservation is required to attend, and can be placed by calling The Stockton Inn at 609-397-1250.
