Part two of Introduction to Microsoft Word 2007 will be held Wednesday, April 25, at 2 p.m. Part two of Introduction to Microsoft Excel 2007 will follow at 3:30 p.m.

A class to introduce LinkedIn, the business networking website, will be held Monday, April 23, at 2 p.m.
An introduction to using Gmail, Google’s free email service, will be held Monday, April 30, at 2 p.m. Previous use of some email provider is recommended.
For these classes, registration is required. The library has a limited number of laptops for patrons to use during the class, so register early if you need to use one. Patrons may also bring their own laptops, or just watch the presentation.
A parent-child Zumba class will be offered Saturday, April 21, at 10 a.m. Bring a water bottle and dress in comfortable clothes and sneakers. The program is intended for children aged 7-10.
The ESL Conversation Group has been canceled for the five Mondays in April.
Kids — plan ahead. A Free Comic Book and do-it-yourself Artist’s Station will be held for grades 6-12 on Saturday, May 5, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Celebrate National Free Comic Book Day at the library. Visit the Teen Center to browse the free comic book and manga giveaways; find one you like and take it home. Get creative at our drop-in DIY artist’s station. We’ll have art supplies, drawing guides and resources for you to test artistic skills on your own. Program available while supplies last. No registration required.
Upcoming programs intended for adults. Registration is required:
• Monday Morning Moms — For parents/caregivers and children up to 36 months. April 23 at 10 a.m.
• Friday Night Movie — “The Descendants,” starring George Clooney, Shailene Woodley and Amara Miller, was nominated for best movie. April 20 at 7 p.m.
• Master gardening — A local home vegetable gardener will share her step-by-step approach through one growing season. She shows how home gardens can bring high production with low maintenance and cost. Saturday, April 21, at 2 p.m.
• Afternoon movie: “Hugo,” director Martin Scorsese’s PG-rated film nominated for best picture, will be shown Tuesday, April 24, at 1:30 p.m.
• Using the library catalog — Learn to find library materials by using the Somerset County’s online catalogue. The class will cover searching for items, placing holds and renewing items. Thursday, April 26, at 11 a.m.
Here are programs for youngsters. Registration is required.
Summer volunteer sign-up has begun. Teens entering grades 8-12 in the fall and who are looking for a way to earn community service hours can pick up an application to volunteer at the library this summer.
• Learning Adventures (grades K-2) — Gardening will be the topic on Tuesday, April 17, at 4 p.m. for children in kindergarten to grade two. A program for grades 4-6 will be held Thursday, April 19, at 10 a.m.
• Stories for 4’s, 5’s & 6’s — Help your preschool or kindergarten child enjoy stories together and build language skills. The program for Monday, April 23, at 1 p.m., is “Our Earth.”
• Rhyme Time (ages newborn to 2) — Twenty minutes of nursery rhyme fun on Tuesdays, April 24 and May 1, at 10:30 a.m.
• Toddler Time (ages 2-3) — Introduce the pleasure of books to your child. Stories on the zoo will be read Tuesday, April 24, and frogs and toads on May 1, both at 10 a.m.
• Early Reader Book Club (grades K-2) — At each program, readers will be discuss the book, do activities and make a craft. Be sure to read the book before the program; copies will be available at the Children’s Desk. The program on Tuesday, April 24, at 4 p.m. will be the “Good Knight” books by Shelley Moore Thomas.
• Preschool Book Club (ages 3-5) —We’ll read books by Lauren Child and share book-related activities. Copies of her books are at the Children’s Desk. Wednesday, April 25, at 10 a.m.
• Crafts for 4’s, 5’s and 6’s — Make a personalized rocket ship with your preschool or kindergarten child. Bring a wallet-size picture of your child. Thursday, April 26, at 10 a.m.
• Lego Buddies (grades 8-12) — Meets Thursday, April 26, at 3:30 p.m. Reliable teen volunteers in grades 8-12 are needed to help at Lego Club programs. The Lego Club for grades 1-5 meets at 4 p.m. that day. If you are into Legos, stop by and hang out with some other Lego-maniacs and have fun building together.
• Anime Club (grades 8-12) — Hang out with your friends as we watch anime, discuss the latest manga and more! Thursday, April 26, at 5 p.m.
• Story and craft: (ages 2-6) — Listen to a story about the “Adorable Duckling” and create a craft to take home. Friday, April 27, at 10 or 11 a.m. and Saturday, April 28, at 10 a.m.
• Teen Book Trailer Viewing (grades 6 –12) — We’ll be viewing book trailers for popular and upcoming teen books. Remember to bring your library card; if you see a book you like, we’ll place it on hold for you at the program. All participants will be entered into a drawing for a Barnes & Noble gift card. Monday, April 30, at 6 p.m.
• TAB meeting (grades 6-12) — The Teen Advisory Board helps plan teen programs at the library while enjoying some tasty treats. Attendance counts towards community service hours. Tuesday, May 1, at 7 p.m.
• Movin’ Munchkins (ages 2-6) — This is a creative movement program for the child and parent/caregiver. Wednesday, May 2, at 10 a.m.
• Story and songs (ages 2-6) — An interactive storytime and musical activities. Thursday, May 3 at 10 a.m.
• Singing Babies (newborn to 24 months) — Start your little one on the road to a lifetime love of music-making. Friday, May 4, at 10 a.m. Note to parents: In order to provide a safe environment for the youngest patrons, older siblings will not be allowed into this program.
The Homework Help Center for grades 5-8 is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4-6 p.m.; Tuesday 4-6 and 6:30-8:30 p.m.
