Danielle Robinson wins National Science Foundation fellowship
Danielle Robinson, formerly of Hillsborough, has been awarded a 2012 National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship.
Her project proposal, titled “Determining protein organization and heterogeneity at the postsynaptic density,” will combine superresolution and electron microscopy to investigate protein organization at the synapse.
The NSF fellowship is a competitive award that provides three years of financial support. These fellowships are awarded annually to about 2000 graduate students across scientific disciplines.
Ms. Robinson is pursuing her PhD in neuroscience at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon. She is the daughter of Tony and Kathleen Robinson of Hillsborough.
Hillsborough siblings have earned the dean’s list at their receptive universities for the fall semester.
Willy Mellott was named at the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. He is completing his sophomore year and is majoring in music education.
Allison Mellott was named at the University of Delaware. She is completing her senior year with a major in early childhood education.
Kenny Gan, a 2011 Hillsborough High School graduate, earned a spot on the President’s List in the fall at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, where he is a freshman. The list recognizes student-athletes who earn a grade-point average of 3.75 or higher for an academic semester.
Five Hillsborough students were was named to the dean’s list at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va., for the fall semester.
To qualify, students must attempt at least 12 credit hours graded on the A-F option and earn a 3.4 grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale).
Hillsborough students are:
• Jessica A. Powers, a senior majoring in marketing management in the Pamplin College of Business;
• Lars T. Rasmussen, a freshman majoring in general engineering in the College of Engineering;
• Catherine R. Sheehy, a junior majoring in hospitality and tourism management in the Pamplin College of Business.
• Keith A. Tauscher, a sophomore majoring in physics in the College of Science, and
• Samantha S. Yeh, a junior majoring in architecture in the College of Architecture and Urban Studies.
Matthew Roth of Hillsborough, a junior at the University of Maryland majoring in finance and accounting received Semester Academic Honors at the Smith School of Business for the fall semester with a GPA of 4.0.
