Walkathon ‘going to the dogs’ on May 20

The fifth annual Woodbridge Animal Shelter Walkathon will be held 11 a.m. May 20 atAlvin Williams Park (on Cliff Road) in the Sewaren section of the township. All leashed pets are welcome.

Registration will take place starting at 10 a.m. From the park, the walk will proceed — with a police escort — to the Woodbridge Animal Shelter on Woodbridge Avenue, where there will be food, prizes, basket raffles, a doggie ice cream truck, the Middlesex County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty toAnimals (SPCA), rescues, more than 20 vendors and much more. Sparkee, the Somerset Patriots’ mascot, is also scheduled to make a guest appearance.

The fundraiser is hosted by the volunteers at the Woodbridge Animal Shelter. The cost is $10 per ticket. Tickets will only be available at the park the day of the event (no advance sales).
