Tryouts for a girls U11/U10 travel soccer team in New Egypt will be held at the New Egypt municipal fields on April 25 at 6 p.m., April 26 at 6 p.m., and April 28 at 9 a.m. Players must attend two sessions. A fundraiser walk will be held for Eric LeGrand on June 2. LeGrand is a Rutgers University football player who was paralyzed in a football game against Army in 2010. Funds raised at the event will benefit LeGrand through the Eric LeGrand Believe Trust Fund. The walk will be held rain or shine and begin at High Point Solutions Stadium in Piscataway. The Rutgers Athletics Department has a full slate of free events scheduled for Rutgers Day onApril 28. The Rutgers spring football game will conclude the day at 3 p.m. at High Point Solutions Stadium in Piscataway. Admission is free, and the events will be held rain or shine. After the spring game, everyone will receive a free Rutgers football poster and be able to go down on the field to get autographs and take photos with current players including Savon Huggins of Jackson, Tim Wright of Wall, and Anthony DiPaula and Mike Bimonte of Manalapan. Former Rutgers players Brandon Bing (Giants), Devin McCourty (Patriots), Jason McCourty (Titans), Jeremy Zuttah (Buccaneers), Kevin Malast (Titans), Jamaal Westerman (Dolphins), Howard Barbieri (Ravens), Tiquan Underwood (Patriots), Brian Leonard (Bengals), Courtney Geene (Jaguars), Kevin Brock (Bills), Gary Gibson (Rams) and Joe Lefeged (Colts) will be on hand for free autographs at noon. The Howell Jackson Knights of Columbus Council 6201 will hold its 28th annual charity golf tournament on May 21 at the Pine Barrens Golf Club, Jackson. This year’s event is being held in memory of Brother Victor Giglio. The event is $175 per person if paid before May 1 and $195 if paid after.
