CHAPTER B
Chapter B members meet at the Municipal Complex on the second Thursday of each month. Our doors open at 11 a.m. From 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. our event tables are open.
Our next meeting is scheduled for May 10. Following our meeting, our guests will be the Hunterdon Harmonizers, a barbershop quartet from the Flemington area. This group is very popular and I know you will enjoy. This will be followed by coffee and tea.
Our Wall of Honor will be up for the month of May and we invite you to visit to see pictures and briefs of members, living and deceased, who have served in the military going back to World War II. If you have not seen this before, it is a very moving experience. Don’t miss it.
Our long-awaited trip to Savannah has come and gone — what a great, wonderful, informative and fun trip it was. A total of 46 members, including myself, left Hillsborough on Sunday morning, April 15. Everyone was excited to begin this trip. Our bus driver, Ash, was a delight, telling us outlandish stories and jokes with his Egyptian accent, and we laughed all the way to Savannah.
We had some wonderful tours and, of course, heard all about the Civil War and how Sherman ruled Savannah. A visit to Paula Dean’s famous restaurant was also on our list. We visited Parris Island, which is a large and beautiful Marine base; we visited the beautiful St. Simon Island, which I would call the rich man’s paradise, with beautiful homes and golf courses, and Jekyll Island, which is now state owned and is filled with lots of history.
It was rumored that our hotel was haunted. It seems a ghost, a Chapter B lookalike, was spotted roaming the halls in gold satin pj’s looking for an ice machine. We all came home exhausted but happy and we thank Pat Famula and her elves for a great job.
