Manalapan Soccer Club President Ted Giovanniello said, “The Manalapan Soccer Club is very excited to host the second annual Coaches Classic. Last year’s event turned out to be a great time.
“The weather wasn’t the best, but it was a fun time for all of the participants and for all of the players who came out to watch their parents and coaches play in a game they all love so much.
“We look forward to partnering up with the Marlboro Soccer Club for many years to come and to be able to raise a lot of money for both of our charities.”
Marlboro Soccer Association President Murray Karp said, “Last year, Mike Hammer and Jeff Rosen came up with this great idea to have the coaches and parents from our respective clubs get together for one night to play a couple of games of soccer for two great charities and share a night of fun and laughter.
“It far exceeded our expectations. We not only raised money for charity, we not only fostered some great relationships between our clubs, but most importantly we taught our kids such a fantastic lesson about the importance of giving back to the community. We are all really looking forward to this year’s event and I truly hope we continue this event for a long time.” Manalapan will host the May 18 event at the Manalapan Recreation Center (Field K), 120 Route 522, Manalapan, beginning at 5 p.m. Festivities are as follows: 5 p.m., admission, rides, food concessions; 6:30 p.m., recreation coaches soccer game; 7:30 p.m., penalty kicks for charity; 8:30 p.m., travel coaches soccer game.
