POLICE BLOTTER: May 3

   Lt. Lance Maloney of the Hopewell Township Police Department reported:
   A homeless man was charged with drunken driving April 21 at 11:58 p.m.
   Edward Brown, 50, was charged after Officer Joseph McNeil observed a car traveling at 64 mph in a 45-mph zone along Washington Crossing-Pennington Road in the township.
   Mr. Brown also was charged with reckless driving, speeding, failure to maintain lane and driving while suspended. He was released to an acquaintance.
   A 16-year-old township boy was charged with theft and possession of marijuana, under 50 grams, on April 25 at 12:25 p.m.
   Officer Sara Erwin responded to a Baker Way address for a report of a theft. The boy allegedly took $20 from a relative and also was found to be in possession of marijuana.
   The case will be forwarded to Family Court for review.
   Christine E. Clagett, 46, of Weldon Way, Pennington, was charged with having a dangerous dog, among other charges, after her pet attacked two cats April 24 at 1:33 p.m.
   Officer Kevin Koveloski, along with animal control officers Belinda Ogitis and Robert English, responded to Weldon Way for the report of a loose dog.
   A dog owned by Ms. Clagett went on a neighbor’s property and attacked a cat. The cat’s owner had to hit the dog with a mop to stop the attack, police said.
   This cat was taken to a veterinarian where it was treated for its injuries.
   The dog then attacked another cat in the neighborhood, severely injuring it. This cat also was taken to a veterinarian, but was unable to be saved due to extensive injuries.
   After the dog was subdued, it was taken to a holding facility where it is being quarantined.
   Ms. Clagett was charged with having a dog running at large, three counts of public nuisance and failing to declare potentially dangerous dog.
   Michael Bell, 33, of Brunswick Avenue, Trenton, was charged with forgery April 24 at 12:30 a.m.
   Officer James Hoffman responded to the Wells Fargo Bank on Route 546 for the report of a forgery.
   Mr. Bell allegedly attempted to cash a fraudulent check for $7,392.50.
   He also was charged with passing bad checks.
   These charges will be forwarded to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
   Mr. Bell also had several outstanding arrest warrants from Trenton and Hamilton and townships. He was taken to the Mercer County Correction Center in lieu of $20,000 bail.
