OLD BRIDGE — A one-car accident earlyMonday morning left a township man in critical condition.
According to police, at around 12:05 a.m. on April 30, a 2004 Pontiac GTO driven by Angelina Carpentiero, 28, of Aberdeen, struck a curb on the ramp from Ticetown Road to Route 9 northbound. The vehicle went over the curb, rolling several times before coming to rest in the left northbound lane of Route 9.
The car’s passenger, Marc Mercurio, 32, of Old Bridge, was not wearing his seat belt, according to police, and was ejected from the vehicle as it rolled across the highway. Mercurio was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he was placed in intensive care.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing, and anyone who witnessed the accident or has information about it is asked to call Officer John Bulin with the Old Bridge Police Department’s Traffic and Safety Unit at 732-679-5959.
