The insurance salesman and financial planner from Marlboro in Monmouth County arrested in March for allegedly scamming a 74-year-old resident has been jailed again, according to police.
For the third time in four weeks, Jordan Zemlock, 50, of Marlboro is facing additional charges this week for allegedly trying to bilk another client out of $129,000, according to a press release from the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
According to police, another senior client became suspicious when Mr. Zemlock allegedly tried to get him to invest the money with him and his company, Jay-Zee Financial Group, Inc. that Mr. Zemlock runs out of his home, according to police.
The most recent allegation brings the total of complaining clients to five, mostly senior citizens, according to police.
Mr. Zemlock was first charged with theft in March after a 74-year-old township resident discovered money missing from the investment account he had with Mr. Zemlock.
When confronted, Mr. Zemlock reportedly told the senior that the money was put into a wrong account. The senior became suspicious and contacted police.
The resulting investigation by Detective Ron Seaman discovered that Mr. Zemlock used the funds to pay for expensive purchases and personal expenses, according to police.
Shortly after that arrest, another investor contacted police complaining about losing $148,000 in an investment with Mr. Zemlock. That investor from Florida was also a victim of Mr. Zemlock where the money was used for personal items, according to police.
In addition, police said that Mr. Zemlock asked the victim to lie if police ever contacted them. According to police, Mr. Zemlock told the victim to say he was a member of Mr. Zemlock’s family and that the money was a personal loan.
Police estimate the total of the thefts to be around $300,000 and there may be more.
Mr. Zemlock holds insurance sales licenses in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and South Dakota, according to police.
Mr. Zemlock is being held on $500,000 bail at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick, according to police.
Anyone who may have had business dealings with Mr. Zemlock is asked to contact Detective Seaman of the South Brunswick Police Department at (732) 329-4646.
