Squad to mark EMS Week
Celebrate National EMS Week with the Lambertville-New Hope Ambulance and Rescue Squad.
Monday, May 21, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Cherry Street lot behind CVS, the squad will have demonstration during Technical Rescue Night.
Wednesday, May 23, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the same location will be Family Night with auto extrication demonstrations, children’s activities, child identification cards provided by the Hunterdon County Sheriff’s Office and a Teddy Bear Clinic.
Special guests will be Breanna Fulper and Caring for Kids with Cancer.
Saturday, May 26, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the squad building at 70 Alexander Ave. will be an open house with children’s activities, tours of the building and demonstrations and community vendors.
Bring nonperishable food items to “Stuff the Ambulance!” for the Lambertville Food Pantry.
Church sets ham supper
The Solebury United Methodist Church will have its family-style ham supper Thursday, May 17, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. or until the food runs out at the church.
Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for children 6-12. Takeouts will be available for $12.

Barbecue and beer fundraiser set
Saturday, May 19, from 3 to 7 p.m.. the Stockton Fire Company will have its annual barbecue and beer fundraiser.
It is a day of food, games, entertainment and a silent auction. All are welcome; you must be 21 to purchase beer.
Tickets are $15. A beer mug is $5. Children under 12 area admitted free.

Special meeting of City Council
The mayor and City Council of Lambertville will hold a special session today ( May 10) at 7 p.m. at the Justice Complex, 25 S. Union St.
The purpose of this meeting is to adopt proclamations (Sgt. Robert Brown and Community Wellness Day), resolutions (South Franklin Street preliminary engineering and a resolution to go into closed session).
The council will go into a closed session to discuss public safety and possible litigation. Action will be taken at the meeting.
The agenda has been posted on the bulletin board at City Hall and the city’s website at www.lambertvillenj.org.
Lambertville announcements
The Mary Sheridan Park rededication of the statue will be held Wednesday, May 23, at 7:30 p.m. at the park.
The Memorial Day parade will be held Monday, May 28, with step-off at 9 a.m.
Sparkle Week will be held. If your regular garbage and recycling pickup is Tuesday or Wednesday, your Sparkle Day is May 7 or 8. If it is Thursday or Friday, your Sparkle Day is May 17 or 18.
Once Public Works has picked up, it will not return for additional sparkle items.
Law Enforcement Torch Run
West Amwell policeman Todd Pantuso will be running in the Law Enforcement Torch Run on June 8.
South Hunterdon Regional High School is collecting donations to support Officer Pantuso and the Special Olympics.
The school’s main office has a donation envelope or donate online at www.TorchRun.sonj.org. Get donations in by June 4.
Student volunteers are sought
The West Amwell Community Day Committee is looking for student volunteers to help Saturday, May 19, from 3 to 9 p.m. and Sunday, May 20, in the morning.
Saturday responsibilities will include setup for the day and assisting with children’s games. Sunday responsibilities will be taking down and cleaning up.

Middle School dance set
The South Hunterdon Middle School dance will be held Friday, May 11, from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
It is a semi-formal dance, which includes spring dresses for girls and khaki shorts and a nice shirt for the boys; nothing fancy.
It will be held at the High School Commons. Admission is $5.
Blood drive offered at South
A blood drive will be held at South Hunterdon Regional High School from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. June 5 in the Middle School Commons.
Graduation at South
South Hunterdon Regional High School will have the commencement ceremony for seniors Wednesday, June 20, at 6 p.m.
The ceremony will be held outdoors in the Samuel Jefferis Stadium.
South officials will review the weather forecast three days prior to graduation and will make a decision whether to move the ceremony indoors.
Duck race raised $5,500 for Eagles
A total of 1, 530 ducks floated down the Delaware and Raritan Canal on April 29 during the Lambertville Shad Festival.
The duck race raised $5,500 for the South Hunterdon Eagles.
The soccer, softball and field hockey teams also were able to raise some money as well as a nonprofit called Students-4-Students.

Second place — $500; Ticket 15, Laura Hooker.
Third place — $250; Ticket 360; Fran Sterbenz.
South PTSO sets events
The South Hunterdon PTSO will have its teacher/administrator appreciation luncheon May 10.
May 11 will be the Middle School Spring Fling.
June 1 is the high school semi “Morp” (prom spelled backwards).
June 8 is the all-school barbecue.

Golf outing to be held
West Amwell Golf Day will be held Monday, Oct. 15, at the Copper Hill Country Club in Ringoes.
It is the seventh annual golf outing and luncheon. Proceeds benefit West Amwell Elementary and South Hunterdon Regional schools.

Kalmia Club is looking for gardens
The Kalmia Club is looking for gardens to feature in its 16th annual Hidden Gardens of Lambertville Tour on June 9, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., rain or shine. The tour raises money for community service efforts sponsored by the women’s nonprofit civic organization. Participants must be willing to open their gardens to the public for the all-day event, but club volunteers will host the tour itself. Gardens can be small, shade, flowering and/or themed. Help make meals
The last Wednesday evening of every month, members of St. Martin of Tours Parish and people from the community get together to make meals for the “Aid for Friends Program.” The number of volunteers has grown as has the number of meals prepared. The average number of meals now being prepared on a given Wednesday is 1,000. Meals are frozen and then delivered to the Aid for Friends Headquarters (Philadelphia or Doylestown). Car wash, May 12
On May 12, the South Hunterdon FFA will host a Mother’s Day Car Wash in the parking lot of South Hunterdon Regional High School from 9 a.m.-noon. In addition, there will be flowers for sale in honor of Mother’ Day. This is a fundraiser for the South FFA Chapter. Funds are being raised for the chapter and to send the Dairy Judging Team, which took first place at the state level, to compete at National FFA Convention in the fall.

Plein Air Festival
The Flemington Historic Preservation Commission is sponsoring a Plein Air Festival on May 19 (rain or shine) as a fundraising event. Artists are invited to capture scenes in the Historic District between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. There will be a public exhibition, reception party and silent auction from 6-9 p.m. at the Stangl Factory, corner of Mine Street and Stangl Road. Ribbons will be awarded.

South art exhibit
Through May 15, The Bank of Princeton is hosting the South Hunterdon Regional High School Art Show, featuring the work of 25 South Hunterdon students. In its gallery at 10 Bridge St., open to the public during business hours, the bank is showcasing original work featuring acrylic, glass, painting, ceramics and lamps.
