ISELIN, NJ — 5/14/12 — Middlesex Water Company (NASDAQ: MSEX), a provider of water and wastewater utility services, observed National Drinking Water Week by hosting a reception and networking event at the company’s Carl J. Olsen Water Treatment Plant in Edison, NJ. National Drinking Water Week (May 6-12) has been observed by the American Water Works Association for over 30-years as an opportunity for water works professionals and the consumers they serve to join together to recognize the vital role water plays in our daily lives.
At the event, Middlesex Water recognized winners of its 2012 Contest “Be In the Know About H20!” which asked students to create: 60 presentations that raise awareness of the value of tap water. The winners, who received gift cards and recognition certificates, were joined by their families at the event. Winners included: Grand Prize Winner, Poornima Suresh (Woodbridge High School); Second-Place Winners (East Brunswick High School Environmental Science Class), Christina Lau, Parisa Fakhrzadeh and Weston Ganz and Third-Place Winner, Kevin Tang (Samuel E. Shull School in Perth Amboy).
The evening reception also brought together the local business community, including municipal, health and regulatory officials as well as members of the Chambers of Commerce of Woodbridge and Edison. The program included remarks from Dennis Doll, Middlesex Water Chairman, President and CEO, and Antonia Ricigliano, Mayor of the Township of Edison, who presented Doll with a proclamation commemorating National Drinking Water Week. The Program also included remarks from Chamber leaders, Carole Hila and Barbara Roos.
