United Teletech Financial Federal Credit Union elected two members to its volunteer Board of Directors at its annual meeting held on April 23.
Ruth Ann Kluin of Freehold was reelected to a three-year term and also named chairman of the board. An active member of United Teletech Financial since 1983, Kluin worked at Bell Labs and Lucent Technologies for more than 38 years. She has served as chairman since 1994.
Robert Hodges of Neptune Township was elected to a three-year term and was named a director. Hodges has served on the board since April 2011, and on the supervisory committee for 25 years, six of those as its chairman. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retiree from AT&T.
Bridge Financial Group, an office of MetLife, announced that Matthew Alimena of Freehold has joined the firm as a financial services representative.
Alimena joins Bridge Financial Group with 27 years of experience in the financial services industry. He has licenses for life, accident and health insurance in New York and New Jersey, and holds FINRA Series 63 and 7 registrations. He also is registered as an investment adviser representative in New York.

Dr. Gary S. Scher is marking the 40th anniversary of the dental practice he founded in theMorganville section of Marlboro in 1972. Scher is a graduate of Brooklyn College and New York University College of Dentistry. He was recognized in dental school by being elected to the National Dental Honor Society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon.
Before settling in Monmouth County, Scher spent two years in the United States Public Health Service providing dental care for Native American Indians. He has maintained membership in the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the New Jersey Dental Association and the Mid-Atlantic Dental Implant Institute.
Scher has been a respected member of the dental community for more than 30 years and was chosen by his peers as one of New Jersey’s best dentists in 2005 and 2011. He and his wife, Susan, reside in Monmouth County where they raised their two daughters, Jennifer and Emily.

Six Flags Great Adventure, Jackson, will celebrate Memorial Day weekend with the season opening of Hurricane Harbor, the kickoff of Adventure Alley’s partnership with Broadway’s “Jersey Boys,” and the final days of special spring admission discounts.
Six Flags Hurricane Harbor will kick off its 2012 season on May 26. The 45-acre water park is one of America’s largest, and features a million gallon wave pool, one of the country’s longest “lazy rivers,” a twostory family water playground, and more than 20 high-speed thrill slides. In early July, the park will debut King Cobra, a massive racing tube slide — the first of its kind in the United States — featuring speeds up to 32 mph and a 25-foot plunge into a giant cobra’s mouth.

Beginning Memorial Day weekend, Broadway’s musical “Jersey Boys” will sponsor Great Adventure’s newly themed Adventure Alley section. Complete with a retro vibe, Adventure Alley will feature four new rides including SkyScreamer (opening to the public May 23; previewing to season pass holders May 17-20), a 24-story extreme swing ride, plus three rides that offer classic, family thrills. The songs of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, as performed in “Jersey Boys,” will play every hour on the hour in the Adventure Alley section of the park. In addition, the park plans to host a special day devoted to the Broadway musical on July 2.

The Freehold Home and Business Expo will be held from 4-7 p.m. May 22 at theAmerican Hotel, Freehold. The focus of the nonprofit event will be on innovation in homes and businesses. The event will feature 50 vendors, five speakers, a cash bar, giveaways at tables, and thousands of dollars in door prizes.
