her autism film
Thursday, May 17 — Triangle Elementary School special education teacher Tori Wargo will present, “Touched by Autism,” her documentary on how the community embraces autism through the eyes of its families, friends, and educators, at Auten Road Intermediate School at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome.
Comedy night
boosts firefighters
Friday, May 18 — Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 presents a night of comedy headlining are Bonnie McFarland and Rich Vos. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door. Doors open 7:30 p.m. and the show starts at 9 at the Polish Falcons Camp, 140 Falcon Road.

Chorus in concert
Friday, May 18 — The Raritan Valley Chorus will present “Let Me Fly” at 7:30 p.m. at the Hillsborough Reformed Church, Main Street (Route 533) and Amwell Road. The program consists of a selection of spirituals plus works by Bach, Handel and Strauss. Donations: $8 adults, $5 students and senior citizens. Smith music award
to be given at school
Wednesday, May 23 — The fourth annual presentation of a musicianship award in honor of retired music teacher Gary T. Smith will be presented at 7 p.m. by Mr. Smith, along with Jeff Slater and David Kaplan, from the sponsoring Music and Arts Center, at the Auten Road School.
On Tuesday, May 22, at 7 p.m., Mayor Carl Suraci will conduct his daughter Amy’s band to kick off the 6th grade spring band concert. He will conduct “The Minuteman March” by John Edmondson.

holds plant auction
Thursday, May 24 — The Neshanic Garden Club will hold a plant auction at its monthly meeting at 9:45 a.m. on at the Station House on Olive Street, Neshanic Station. Saturday, May 26 — The township’s 7th annual Salute to Veterans breakfast for Hillsborough veterans is at 8:30 a.m. in the municipal building. Veterans may register online at township web site or by calling 908-369-4331. The annual Memorial Day parade will follow.

Chain of Hope holds
wine fundraiser
Friday, June 8 — Chain of Hope’s first wine tasting at Old York Cellars, 80 Old York Road, Ringoes. 7 to 10 p.m. Included are six selections of wine, paired with chocolates, fruit and cheese. Cash bar available. Register at [email protected].
The organization was formed by life-long friends from Hillsborough after one of their own was stricken with breast cancer. Fundraising assists specific individuals and causes in central New Jersey to gain peace of mind in challenging times.
Handbell concert
fights blindness
Saturday, June 9 — A solo handbell concert at 7 p.m. by handbell artist Hyosang Park and pianist Akiko Hosaki performs at Hillsborough Reformed Church at Millstone, 1 Amwell Road at Millstone River Road. A freewill offering will be taken. Call 908-359-3391. The concert benefits the United Front Against Riverblindness, which is trying to end onchocerciasis, known as riverblindness, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Garden club plans
trip to Colonial Park
Thursday, June 14 — The Neshanic Garden Club will meet at 10 a.m. at Colonial Park in Somerset to tour the rose, perennial and fragrance gardens. The tour will be led by Jeff Van Pelt.
Those wishing to carpool may meet at the Bottle King at 626 Route 206 in Hillsborough at 9 a.m. The meeting and installation of officers will be held at the Gardeners’ Nook at 2135 Amwell Road, Somerset, at 11:30 a.m. and will be followed by a box lunch picnic.
Members may attend the container workshop afterward and/or buy plants. Prospective members are encouraged to attend. For information, contact club president Janet Gibson at 908-359-0176.
Continuing events
Clothing drive — Until June 8, the Hillsborough High School track teams are collecting wearable men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, shoes, belts, handbags, linens, stuffed animals and hard toys that will fit in a small box. Donations can be dropped at the fieldhouse at the high school from 2:30-4:30 p.m. or on the porch of 8 Smith Court. Please tie everything in a plastic bag.
Alzheimer’s support group — The Alzheimer’s Association has a support group in Hillsborough. Family members and caregivers come together to share information and support in a safe, confidential atmosphere.
Meetings are the second Wednesday of each month at 1 p.m. in the sunroom at Emeritus Senior Living, 600 Auten Road. Call 431-1300 if attending.
Divorce support group — A non-denominational support group to help separated and divorced people to a new beginning. The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of the month, 7-8:30 p.m., at Hillsborough Presbyterian Church, Route 206 at Homestead Road. 908-295-6740.
