MANVILLE: Onderko’s efforts earn her applause

To the editor:
Front page news (“Onderko’s comments draw rebuke” from Hillsborough mayor, May 3) — are you kidding me? Boo hoo! Get over it!
Councilman (Richard) Onderko is being the voice Manville so desperately needs. So he is not an engineer, builder, or million-dollar developer and, since the last time I checked, there were no new developments being built here in Manville, building laws may not be something Councilman Onderko or any of us residing here are familiar with.
However, he is right. The over development in this area is flooding Manville. It is a constant reminder every time we have to rebuild our homes. Taking down trees, and filling the land with homes, blacktop and concrete does have an impact. The water needs somewhere to go. Oops, sorry you all must have missed that class.
Many of my neighbors, myself included, feel that Manville is not getting the help/support that is needed. We now live amongst abandoned, busted and mold infested homes. And now we have to hear, Oh, he hurt our feelings! Toughen up and grow some thicker skin. It’s about time that Manville starts barking. While you continue to benefit from these developments, Manville continues to drown. And as far as these laws/studies are concerned, would you bank on it? Or can I get that in writing? I guess only time will tell. We that live here have seen the change. And so far, none positive.
Councilman Onderko is simply doing what he was elected to do. He is representing those of us in town that say we’ve had enough. Thank you, Councilman Onderko.
What Manville needs is help and positive exposure not kindergarten politics. You want a story worth writing about? Come visit the Lost Valley section of Manville. Here you will see the impact of the Millstone River, the Royce Brook and the overdevelopment of our neighboring towns. Or is that not the politically correct thing to do?
